Yes, you need the Lightning-to-USB 3 adapter from Apple (digitec item 5718376). It is important that you supply the MPK with power via this adapter, because the iPad itself only provides little power for external devices at the Lightning port. (Source: https://getsatisfaction.com/akai_profe...)
