Is the Doublex automatic? or do I have to put the sheets back into the printer after the first print?

Duplex on the printer (lower part that prints on the paper) is automatic. It simply has to be selected in the printer driver because it is optional.
The document feeder (ADF, upper part that scans the documents) is NOT automatic. If you want to scan or copy double-sided documents "easily", the top model MFC-L2750DW would be the right choice.
