Linux runs without problems on the server. I have successfully installed Debian 9 on ZFS. Like all "hardware" RAID controllers, the one installed here is unusable, so if you don't need ZFS/btrfs, software RAID with mdadm is recommended (and then set up each disk separately in the BIOS).
