Is it possible to wake up the screen by tapping it twice, and if so, can you deactivate it? My Mi A2 lite with the same stock Android can't do this, so the screen comes on quickly when you have it in your pocket and move around.

Yes, it has Tap to wake and yes, you can turn it off (Settings -> Dosplay -> Advanced -> Tap to wake).
