My question: can the panels also be used without a connection to a portable power station? Or put more simply, can the system be used as a "normal" balcony power station without a portable connection?

Can the panels be positioned next to each other? Is the cable sufficient?

I haven't yet installed the 2 solar panels. I opened the big box to see the accessories. The cables seem very short to me and there are no large brackets supplied to fix the panels at an angle to a fixed support such as a balustrade or a wall. 
According to the instructions, the panels can be used during the day without being connected to a portable power station. At night, you can only use the energy stored during the day in a portable battery.
The Ecoflow Delta 2 Max portable battery works very well, and I use it in the camper van. I'm charging it from a 220v socket at the moment.
