If I always have around 170-200 fps when I play games and the fps always fluctuate in that range, would a 240hz monitor be worth it? Or would it affect the experience?
The purchase would be worthwhile, as you can then also benefit from G-Sync. (as long as you have an Nvidia graphics card).
G-Sync is only supported as long as the FPS in the game is below the maximum frequency of the screen.
Firstly, you will be able to display more FPS than with a 144hz monitor and still benefit from G-Sync.
I can't tell you if the experience is that much better at 170-200 fps. In any case, it won't make a huge difference, but your "future graphics card" would be taken care of.
Worthwhile versus what kind of monitor?
