If desired, can the device be configured so that absolutely no light source comes from it at night? No Bluetooth flashing, no other lighting function? Dark.

I would now say (purely a guess) that you can't get the display 100% dark... you can possibly switch on an eco mode that dims it considerably. But this can hardly be timed... But you shouldn't be blinded by this display if the room is otherwise dark...
