Question about Apple iPhone XR

i don't quite understand about using the dual-sim, maybe someone can help me. Can I use two cards with this iphone - my fixed swiss sim and then a local sim depending on where I'm staying abroad? Or does it take more to do it that way. Thank you for your feedback.
