It goes into standby mode and then you have to press a button for it to play the last station selected.
I'm also looking for a DAB radio that can be started directly by plugging it in, but I can't find trouvé☹️

Goes into standby mode, just tried unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Hello RoCuLu, I have just tested it quickly. Regardless of whether there are batteries in the device or not, it only goes into standby mode when I plug in the USB connector. If there are batteries inside, the radio does not switch off when I unplug the USB connector. 
So it would not work with a switched socket.
