I would like to know if I can also chop/prepare hummus or pickled cashew nuts with this appliance, for example? Is the chopper function strong enough for this?

Hello Katharina
The machine easily chopped hard vegetables like carrots and celery. We haven't tried nuts yet, but the kneading function for yeast dough is great. Kassensturz rated the machine as very good.
