I would like to buy the Samsung Galaxy A36 from Digitec and use it with a German SIM card. Is this possible or is there a SIM lock/reginal lock?

Short answer: Yes - the device is normally simlock-free and can be used with a German SIM card; Samsung itself does not lock devices for operators.
Explanation and details: - Samsung states that *Samsung itself* does not lock devices on the network operator side; if a device is locked, the lock comes from the original mobile operator and they must provide the unlock code. - Devices sold by retailers without a contract (e.g. retail/online shops such as Digitec) are usually *simlock-free*; corresponding retailer entries for the model also list the A36 as sim-lock-free. - However, there are separate cases of *region/country lock* (e.g. "EUROPEAN SIM CARD ONLY" on packaging) that may occur on some devices; such indications would be on the packaging or in the retailer details and are not the same as a mobile SIM lock. - If you buy a specific device from Digitec and want to be sure: check the product description at Digitec for information on "simlock-free" or "without network lock" and open the packaging on receipt to check the sticker information (e.g. region lock).
