Some filament manufacturers have recycling programmes. Fabru GmbH, for example, takes back all empty spools and refills them with new filament.

I assume that the roll is made of some kind of plastic. If you know what kind, you can either recycle it or dispose of it normally with your household waste. In Switzerland, however, only PET bottles are recycled.
