I have a similar problem.
The Switch only works for me when the Xbox is switched on.
Otherwise, the screen remains black even when selecting from the PC signal.
Is it possible that the PC alone is not supplying enough power or what could this be?

I use the switch mainly for external drives with their own power connection.
The Xbox remains switched off. I have not noticed any problems so far.
