I have a hard disc without its own power supply and would like to use it as a recorder on a Panasonic TV with a USB 3.0 interface. Panasonic recommends only using hard discs with their own power supply. Can this device be used for this purpose? The hard disc works on the TV, but I would like to provide it with its own power supply.

Works best with its own power supply. I used to have a 4 port USB 2 HUB, but it doesn't work properly.

Yes, this works as a power supply for an HD.
