I have a Cisco SG500-28P switch which has a RS232 console port. Can I access the console with this cable and PuTTY?

Moin - had the same issue with a Cisco SG300-28. It doesn't work with this adapter, you need a normal serial cable, not a null modem cable. Unfortunately, the Cisco switch has the wrong connector, which is why you need a gender changer. I really wanted to get it right, but throwing the thing in the rubbish and getting one with a USB console port would have been easier in any case ;-)
