I have 2 laptops that I would like to connect to the docking station with this USB-C switch (Delock). This so that I can use the screen/mouse/keyboard (in the docking station) for both laptops and switch easily.

Do I need an additional 5V USB-C connection on the switch for it to work? According to me, both laptops (and docking station) are sufficiently supplied with power and I don't see why the switch can get its juice from one of these 3 places.

Edit: This was incorrect, a 5V power source is required.

I have since received the product - it does NOT work at all without 5V power.
