Question about Pure Classic H4

I had already ordered another radio from Galaxus (Denver DAB-18LW), which had DAB block 12C as the default setting. DAB block 12C receives radio stations from French-speaking Switzerland and I was unable to receive either my local stations (Schaffhausen) or German-language SRF stations. When I asked Galaxus, they told me that the DAB block could not be changed, so I returned the radio and still had to pay a 10% handling fee and an expense allowance. I would now like to know which DAB block is set as the default setting for this Pure Classic H4 radio so that the same thing doesn't happen to me again. Thanks for the information!

Helpful answer
Hello Laura
Until now I didn't even know that there was such a thing as a DAB block 😅
In any case, I have SRF, Swisspop, Radio 24, Munot, Rete and many more on this device.
I hope that helps.

In Schaffhausen, the following DAB blocks are usually received stably:

- 7D - SRG Deutschschweiz
Contains SRF 1, SRF 2 Kultur, SRF 3, SRF Musikwelle, SRF Virus, among others.
- 7B - SwissMediaCast German-speaking Switzerland North
Private stations such as Radio 24, Radio Argovia, Radio Top, Virgin Radio, Energy, etc.
- 7A - SwissMediaCast German-speaking Switzerland East
Other private stations, very stable depending on location.
- 12C - SRG Romandie
Is often also received, but is not standard and is not set as a fixed block by Pure Classic H4.

In short: The Pure Classic H4 does not have a fixed DAB block like the 12C. The device automatically performs a full DAB scan when first switched on and stores all receivable blocks in your location. It is not preset to a single block - unlike the Denver model that caused you problems.
Source: The device automatically starts a DAB scan when first used pure-audio.com.

🔍 What does this mean for you in Schaffhausen?

- The Pure Classic H4 scans all available DAB blocks, including:- 7D / 7B / 7A (German-speaking Switzerland, incl. SRF 1, SRF 3, SRF Musikwelle etc.)
- 12C (French-speaking Switzerland) - is found but not set as standard

- You can then choose freely from the station list without a wrong block being fixed.
- The problem with the Denver radio (block fixed at 12C, cannot be changed) does not occur with the Pure Classic H4.

📌 Why is the Pure Classic H4 unproblematic?

- According to manufacturer support, the device always starts with an automatic DAB search pure-audio.com.
- There is no block preset, but a station list that is generated from all blocks found.
- This means you can immediately receive the German-language SRF stations and local multiplexes in Schaffhausen.

👍 Recommendation

If you are looking for a device that is not stuck on a wrong block, the Pure Classic H4 is a safe choice.
You only need to unplug the aerial the first time you start it up - the rest happens automatically.

If you like, I can also tell you which DAB blocks are typically receivable in Schaffhausen or give you alternatives that have particularly good reception.
