Question about Digitus HDMI A to VGA Converter

I currently have an HDMI-VGA adapter, but I can't get a picture from the laptop HDMI port to the beamer VGA. The beamer does not find the signal. Supposedly I need an ACTIVE HDMI-VGA converter. Will this device do the job?

I use it to connect a Chromecast to an older projector with a VGA connection. This works well.
