Question about Max Hauri Digital timer, random generator

I bought this timer and am very shocked that it itself has a power consumption of 7 watts. Shouldn't this consumption be around o.5 watts?

I have not measured the consumption. But 0.5W is not enough to charge the battery (power failure fuse) and keep the relay energised (when the socket is switched on).
