Question about Delock Digital Audio to Analog HD Converter

I bought the Delock digital audio converter to connect my TV to the amplifier. I have it connected to two TVs via cinch and headphone connection but there is no sound! Why can't I hear any sound? Aren't these optical connections all the same?
