How suitable is this laser printer for "occasional use"? We are almost paperless at home, but occasionally we need to print something. How long does the printer take to warm up? Are there wasteful cleaning cycles like with inkjet printers? Can you disconnect it completely from the power supply or will that cause malfunctions?

We use the machine exclusively for return slips and occasional printouts. It prints within 10 seconds from stand-by mode. Laser printers do not know cleaning cycles. 
Disconnecting from the mains can be done safely, but it is a bit awkward when you want to print.
