Question about i-tec USB C to

Hello I would like to connect two screens to my private HP, which will then also work for the Lenovo Thinkpad from the shop and am looking for an inexpensive solution. I received this adapter today but it is not compatible with my HP Pavilion (has a port 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (data transfer only, 5 Gbit/s signal rate). As a layman, I thought I just needed a USB C port and it would work, but I was proved wrong. Can anyone help me? Many thanks and regards
