Hello, I would like to buy the Canon Selphy 1500 printer. Do I also need this paper cassette to be able to print smaller formats (smaller than postcard size)?

Yes, that's exactly what you need.
For the postcards, an insert is included with the printer. This must be purchased for the smaller format.
