Hello, does the on/off switch at the back turn the radio on or do you additionally have to push the red on button? I am looking for a radio that will come on automatically when plugged in (actually, when a plug-in timer powers up the mains, for use as a security feature on holiday). Thanks!

The radio switches on, the red button does not need to be pressed!

hoetiker is right the red button does not have to be pressed, we have also disconnected the internal battery, then it works with the plug-in strip / timer.
