Yes the microSD card is not included, check DJI's recommendations on which microSD card to use.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max fits into the remote control. DJI states that smartphones with dimensions up to max. 180×86×10 mm (L×W×D) fit.
You may have to remove the iPhone from your case to make it fit if you are using a case.
