Yes, theoretically you can use it as a microphone only.
It is designed as a device that you place in the middle of the table in a conference room and you have a team meeting and you can hear everyone well.
If you only need it for recordings, there are certainly cheaper alternatives.

I agree with Otokee's answer. It is also worth mentioning that the recording quality is rather not designed for podcasts, audio tracks for videos, etc., but the quality "telephony" is to be expected.
