Question about iFixit iMac Opening Wheel
Hello All A question about this product (iFixit iMac Opening Wheel). How deep does the cutting wheel penetrate into the iMac? According to all information, the tool should not penetrate more than nine millimetres so that nothing is accidentally cut through. Thank you in advance for your answers.

I can't tell you the exact mm number. When I opened the iMac, at first I only gently drove into the adhesive seal of the screen and only in the second or third by rolling further in. You have to use your fingertips and you can tell as soon as the glass comes loose. I had the feeling that I couldn't damage anything in the device with this small, fine plastic "Imac cutter". What was the most important input for me was that when the glass can be loosened, it is first lifted only a few centimetres and the connection from the glass to the housing is neatly unplugged. It is also important that the whole thing is lying down and not opened standing up. Hope this helps you and greetings

It is designed by iFixit.
And iFixit does mention that one should not go further than 9mm.
So, why would they design a tool doing anything else than that?
Besides, nothing prevent you to cut with a depth of 5mm, if you want to.
