Had a crash with my Phantom 4, probably caused by a bug in some software. My question: Can I fly the new Phantom 4 Pro with the old Phantom 4 controller and my iPad Mini 4? If so, does Digitec also offer the drone empty, possibly with a battery?
Hello Urs
Yes, that is possible. You can pair the old remote control with a new drone with little effort. I have already done this.
As far as I know, Digitec, like other retailers, does not offer the drone without the remote control. DJI does, but the price is so high that you don't save anything.
My recommendation: buy the Phantom 4pro+ with an integrated display in the remote control. It's much brighter than the iPad. This gives you the option of using the large, less bright display or the smaller, brighter display, depending on the situation or sunlight.
Hello Urs. If you can connect the remote control to the copter, it will almost certainly work, possibly with a reduced range of functions. However, none of this makes much sense. If your copter crashed because of a software error, it will do the same with a P4 remote control. The remote control does not change the flight behaviour of the copter. However, if the remote control has a mechanical defect, you can make a warranty claim and send the remote control in for repair. It is better to avoid such questionable "pointless" experiments that tend to lead to the total destruction of your drone.
