Question about Dell S3422DWG

Good day I bought this monitor and when I connect it to my laptop, the image on the monitor is stretched out. I also had a curved monitor before, but from Samsung. However, the width to height ratio was correct. The screen resolution that is displayed to me is 1920x1080 (recommended) and larger resolutions are not displayed. I am using the HDMI cable that came with it. Is there any way to fix this or do I need to buy another screen? Mfg
