I am not a Nikon user, but this card fits the D300 in terms of format.
According to Nikon support, only CF cards up to 8GB are compatible. Here is the link:

Maybe this card already works and maybe the write rate is too fast, but that is not a disadvantage. You can use it better on another camera.
