Good day ladies and gentlemen
Is it possible to connect 2 x solar panels to the GZ Yeti 500X at the same time? E.g. 1x Boulder 100 + 1x Boulder 50 or 1x Boulder 100 +1x 100 Nomad? Or does that lead to overloading or can it receive so much power at all? If it works, do I need the combiner with 4x8mm? Thanks for the help
I am charging my Yeti500X with the Boulder200 and HPP to 8mm Connector. The Yeti500X can take up to 120 watts. The first afternoon after 4pm I had 35 watts on the speedometer.
No, one of the two 8mm connectors on the 500X is prioritised. I think the front one. (Details can be found in the PDF instructions on the GZ website). If both panels are oriented differently and the prioritised one does not supply power, it might work (e.g. east/west orientation) to use both connectors. But I have not tested this. I would also prefer 2x 100W in series to be able to charge in 1 day with both panels in weak sunlight.
Voltage and current limits on the 8mm input are defined (max. 22V, max. 10A) and must be adhered to, otherwise the electronics will break down.
The 4 in 1 adapter is accordingly only intended and usable for the large GZ Yeti (at the corresponding Anderson connection).
I therefore only charge the 500X with 1x 100W Boulder. In summer it is full until the evening with good alignment.
