You can, you just have to help a bit by applying pressure by hand when feeding the sheet until the wrap is overcome when feeding it into the shaft. It's just a matter of practice - I've also printed 250 g.
Yes, it can also handle envelopes and photo paper. The format change has to be entered via the menu on the printer, which is a bit awkward.
