Good day I have connected a PC and a laptop with two cables each to the switch box and attached two monitors. When I start the laptop, I have to open the laptop first so that I can log in via the screen. It is not possible to change the settings on the PC - the screens remain black. What am I doing wrong?

This must be due to the device settings (PC / laptop). I also have a laptop and a PC connected to it and have no problems. I only have to open the laptop to start because of the power button and I can close it again immediately and then log in via the external screens. It's best to check the settings on the laptop (duplicate screen or set external monitor as main screen?).
And switching between PC and laptop also works without problems for me.

To control the laptop I have installed a docking station in front of the switch. (e.g. Lenovo 40AN0135EU (HDMI, DisplayPort, 135W, USB A)).
This means the laptop can stay closed and is controlled via USB-C from the docking station.
Without the docking station, I think it will be difficult.
