No, it's not automatic, it's all manual. You have to pull out and push in the output trays yourself. Duplex printing is automatic (if you configure it that way in the printer driver). I don't know of any printer whose mechanism moves automatically, more or less on print command. What I also like about my Epson printer is that it automatically starts up and prints when I give a print command. The print command switches the printer on automatically and prints immediately. So you don't have to do it manually or get annoyed - as with many other printers - when it grumbles that it is switched off and therefore cannot print.

For 104.- the printer is good.
