The FiiO M5, like many other FiiO MP3 players, has no memory for songs, which means you MUST buy a microSD card for it.
As DanielGwerder writes. This MP3 player only has a small memory for its operating system. The songs must be stored on a MicroSD card. It's better anyway, so you can take hours of songs with you for just a few alpine dollars!
