Details: I tried this briefly on my Samsung TV and it worked for me. I used a SanDisk Ultra II (15MB/s) with 16GB. I had various *.mkv files on it, which could be played back without any problems.

When inserted with an sd card (e.g. on a computer), the device works like a USB stick. I haven't tried it on the TV, but I think it should work without any problems.
