Question about ASUS ROG Swift PG258Q
Does it help if I connect an nvidia graphics card to a freesync monitor?

For some time now, yes!
nVidia's cards have been trimmed to Freesync via software update. There has been some sort of compatibility list of possible monitors, however, to my knowledge, pretty much any gaming monitor can play Freesync via nVidia cards!
