Does it also work if you turn it around? (i.e. mDp in the monitor and hmdi in the device)? If not, do you have other cables in stock that would work?

No. The reverse is very unusual and requires an active adapter (i.e. with additional power supply). As far as I can see, however, there are no adapters directly to miniDP at Digitec. So you need an adapter from HDMI to DisplayPort and then a DP to miniDP cable.
