Does anyone know if the USB-C port functions as an upstream port for the integrated USB hub? In other words, can you use USB peripherals plugged into the monitor if you only have a USB-C to USB-C connection to the monitor? (e.g. from a macbook?)

Yes, that's what I did and it works great. Macbook connected with USB-C and keyboard and cable for Ipad attached to the monitor.
