I would like to know if this disc is compatible with an iPad with a Lightning connection.

Not directly. The format will either be Mac, not Windows compatible, or ntfs not writable with Mac. For use with both, I suggest you purchase software on mac that allows you to read and write to ntfs and format the disk to ntfs.
