I specifically asked here before I ordered the adapter for my S8. Everyone told me that it would work. I was very sceptical whether it would work, but then I bought it anyway and found out that this adapter is "junk" and does not work with the S8!

Received these USB-C adapters today. Galaxy S8 can definitely neither be charged nor used for USB connection. Goes back to Digitec - so useless for S8 !

NO, that is not possible. It works with the Samsung S8 adapter. With this one, neither charging nor USB connection with the PC works.

Unfortunately, I also observe that it does not work, although digitec offers it as an accessory for the S8. Only the adapter supplied works for me too.
