The connections are 1x USB 3.0 / 1x USB 2.0. Of course, you can also connect the USB 2.0 connection in a USB 3.0 slot, as this is also downward compatible.
The manufacturer probably saved a little on the USB 2.0 connection, as this is only used for the additional power supply.
