can you use it to dim a luminaire that has its own LED (not Hue) and a dimmer switch on the cable?
no, only on/off. no sense in putting a hue bulb behind it. Suitable for household appliances such as coffee machines or old lamps with special bulbs.
No, it can only be used to switch the power on and off, to remotely control the dimming, use the corresponding Hue bulb.
