Question about HP Poly CS540A Headset with handset lifter

The headset cannot be plugged directly into the PC as it is designed for connection to a telephone system. A special USB adapter (e.g. the Poly Discover D315) is required for use on a PC, which makes the headset compatible for softphone or computer applications. A direct connection to the PC is not possible without a telephone system or this adapter.
