Yes, this is possible, but there should already be a WLAN into which the printer can be integrated (router).
The simplest variant would be to connect the printer to the router via LAN cable. Then you simply continue to use the router's WLAN.
Wifi-Direct is a different function and can only(!) be used for printing by sending PDF or JPG files to the printer (as far as I know).
