can i reuse the old backplate of the 1080 or do i need the one from ek ? which is not available here https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc1080-gtx-strix-backplate-black

If I have understood correctly, you definitely need the backplate from EKWB for the "ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080", as the standard backplate is otherwise not compatible with the cooler.
