Can I connect both a MacBook and a Windows laptop to this monitor? Sorry if this question is too "basic"....

with the macbook it depends on what kind of outputs you have. but with the right adapters everything is no problem.
basically, no compatibility problem will prevent you from using this screen on your macbook.
