Can I also play with my GTX980ti with this monitor stupid question but I don't quite understand the FreeSync with the compatibility and whether I can use vSync normally?

FreeSync only works with AMD cards, with Nvidia it is called GSync. Nevertheless, you can use the monitor normally with an Nvidia card. I have connected the monitor with two GTX 960 SLI to the Displayport and play e.g. Battlefield 1 with 75 FPS in ULTRA mode :)
