Bought the AMD Ryzen 7 3800X processor (3rd Gen) for this motherboard a while ago as I thought it should run. However, the processor does not run, so I am now using my old AMD Ryzen 5 2600X (2nd Gen) again. At https://rog.asus.com/ch-de/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b450-f-gaming-model/spec it says that 1st 2nd and 3rd Gen AMD processors would run "/2nd and 1st Gen AMD Ryzen". Here https://rog.asus.com/ch-de/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b450-f-gaming-model/helpdesk_manual but it only says "AM4 socket for AMD Ryten 2nd Generation / Ryzen with Radeon Vega Graphics / Ryzen 1st Generation". as I said, the new processor does not work for me, can anyone help me here?
Thank you for the answers, I ran the AMD chipset software thing and will test if it works now ;)
What you have looked up if the CPU on this mainboard only with the information "1st 2nd and 3rd Gen AMD processors" is a little too little.
Every manufacturer keeps a list of all CPUs supported by the respective mainboard. For the ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Gaming this is https://rog.asus.com/ch-de....
It is important not only to check whether the CPU is listed. If it is listed, there is also a note on which version of the BIOS the motherboard must have in order for the CPU to work.
To run a Ryzen 7 3800X, the BIOS must have at least version 2301.
If this is not the case, you have to upgrade it. https://rog.asus.com/ch-de...
Some motherboards released before the Ryzen 3rd Gen need a BIOS update first to work with the 3rd Gen.
This might be a possibility.
You can also find the appropriate drivers on the same page.
