Question about Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi

Again about the power supply: On the laptop, the unit works (blue power light is on). But with a (different) USB charger, the power LED remains dark and the unit mute. Does the unit only work with a connected PC?

Only connected to a charger, the power LED remains dark.
Only a PC or laptop recognises the SoundBlaster and the LED lights up.
Without a computer, the SoundBlaster makes little sense.
With my notebook, I needed an active USB hub so that enough power was available.
